Annotation

EANC is an electronic collection of Eastern Armenian texts supplemented with basic metatext (bibliographic) information and processed by parsing software which generates lexical and morphological markup data. EANC markup is a system of internal tags that are assigned to texts and word tokens in order to enhance the search functionality.

Three major layers of markup are implemented in EANC:

Most of the token markup tags are directly accessible to the EANC user. These tags are displayed when the user places the mouse over a token in the list of query results or left-clicks a token inside a Library text. Bibliographic tags are primarily accessible through the EANC interface (e.g. Specify Subcorpus), but are also displayed along with query matches. A few tags, including auxiliary markup, are used for internal purposes only.
